Company History

Founded in 1945 by George Anderson, a chemical engineer with a knack for solving industrial application problems, Calumet Abrasive’s focus has always been to find unique solutions to customers needs. Based in northwest Indiana, Calumet Abrasives has a good working relationship with many of the large industrial companies in the region.

Calumet Abrasives expanded beyond the local market by working with a number of process piping companies building refineries in the area. Working in the field with welders, a line of Welderaser™ wheels was developed that followed the contracting companies to job sites throughout the country and even to locations around the world where chemical and petroleum plants were being built.

By developing wheel products to cut stainless steel, sales for industrial applications grew substantially. Fabricating in stainless steel requires high performance cutting wheels rather than standard or commodity wheels. Calumet Abrasives designed products that out-performed those of the leading grinding wheel manufacturers.

Over the last decade, Cabco has grown into a highly productive modern manufacturing company. Our focus remains on quality based productivity and on meeting the critical elements of each customer’s application.
